At Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue, we believe there is something truly special about the bond
between seniors and senior dogs. Our Seniors for Seniors adoption program was created to bring comfort, companionship, and love to both. While giving older dogs the second chance they so deeply deserve.
Sadly, senior dogs are among the most at-risk in shelters. Thousands of dogs enter the shelter system each year, and older dogs are often the first to be overlooked and the first to be euthanized. According to shelter data, senior dogs can be up to five times more likely to be euthanized than younger dogs, simply because adopters tend to choose puppies. Many never get the chance to show how gentle, loyal, and loving they truly are.
That’s why this program means so much to us at Ace of Hearts.
Through our Seniors for Seniors initiative, we offer a reduced adoption fee of $250 to help make it easier for seniors to open their hearts and homes to an older dog. It’s one small way we can help create these deeply meaningful, life-changing connections.
Senior dogs have so much love left to give. They’re often calmer, already trained, and perfectly suited for a slower, more peaceful lifestyle. What they offer is something truly special, steady companionship, quiet gratitude, and a gentle, unconditional love that only comes with time.
In return, they ask for so little: a cozy place to rest, a caring hand, and someone to love them through their golden years.
