Fostering Opportunities
CALL US TO FOSTER 310-358-3344
One of the most impactful ways to support Ace of Hearts is by volunteering to foster a dog. Each new foster home means one more shelter dog, who might otherwise face euthanasia, gets a second chance. Inviting a dog in need into your home can fill your life with joy and give you the profound satisfaction of knowing you've truly changed an animal's life. In essence, fostering is life-saving! You bring the love and attention, and we'll take care of the rest! This includes providing food, treats, a cozy bed, and any necessary veterinary care for the dog.
Interested? Some things to consider:
-
Most of the dogs we rescue are between 50 and 90 pounds, so you must be comfortable with large dogs.
-
We ask that you be away from home no more than 7 hours a day.
-
You will need to transport the dog to/from adoption events at the West Hollywood Petco three Saturdays per month. If you have to miss one occasion, we can arrange alternate transportation.
-
We do ask that you have at least some experience with dogs, but you don’t need to have dogs of your own.
-
You must be able to commit to fostering for a minimum of two weeks at a time.
-
You must be communicative, letting us know what the dog needs as well as general information about the dog’s personality and temperament.
-
We are also in NEED of dog-savvy people who can help maintain and continue training some of our foster dogs! Dog training experience is a PLUS, but not necessary!
If you are ready to make a difference and save a life by fostering an Ace Dog, please send an email to dogsfromheaven@aol.com or call us at 310-358-3344 to tell us about your experience with dogs and your current situation ( i.e., what hours you work, family pets, etc. to dogsfromheaven@aol.com).
Please include a phone number where we can reach you!
Fostering a dog can save a life! Ace of Hearts has no shelter and is reliant upon a fostering network to provide temporary homes for our animals. Our dogs are kept in foster homes until they are placed in permanent, happy homes of their own. Currently, we have very limited foster resources, and as a result, we often have to turn animals in need away because there is no one to foster them.
Foster homes provide the love and shelter, while Ace of Hearts pays for the food and all medical expenses. A foster home is invaluable because the foster parent gains insight into the dog's personality to help us better match them with the perfect home.
